FREQUENCY DIGITAL CULTURE FESTIVAL

Curatorial Assistant Intern (2015)

Production Co-Ordinator (2017)

Frequency Festival of Digital Culture is a biennial festival hosted in the city of Lincoln, providing a platform to celebrate digital innovation and culture throughout the festival. Frequency Festival showcases artists from all over the world and integrates a variety of art into the city’s landscape through installations, site-specific work, live performances, talks and workshops.

As Curatorial Assistant in 2015 edition of the festival, our Director, Sophia worked alongside the festival Directors to support artist liaison and creative vision for the festival. She supported the curation of exhibitions and events throughout the festival, including producing interpretation materials, leading tours and curated walks and cafe conversations; as well as supporting artists during their time at the festival.

In 2017, as part of the Threshold Studios Team, she co-ordinated events and exhibitions, as well as programming the ‘Fabratory’ workshops throughout the festival, which provided an array of experiences for our diverse audiences, working with experienced and up and coming artists from across the UK and Europe. Furthermore, Sophia was successful in seeking out some of the artists for the festival this year, including Tom Dekyvere’s ‘APPARATUS FLORIUS’ sculpture in Lincoln Castle’s Cobb Hall.

She also managed all the hospitality and travel for artists and events, supported on install of exhibitions and the production scheduling; as well taking on board general administration responsibilities – including contracting, financial reporting and office management, booking venues for the festival.

Throughout the festival in 2017, Sophia also supported the recruitment and delivery of creative graduate accelerator scheme, that gives recent graduates an opportunity to work throughout the festival in various roles. As a former member of this scheme Sophia was able to offer my personal experience to the 2017 interns and have since continued to support their development as they apply for roles in the creative sector.
